The first workshop with Bridget gives me a nice starts of understand what I am interested about, which I used some unuseful objects around me to create a piece of textile. This is the first try to produce a small scale of screen.
The Third week I got a new challenge which is use a opposite material to create, I chose to use paper, because it is a fragile and common item compare to the first sample I made in week 1.
To keep relating to screen, I do cutting on paper, and I find paper cutting artist Rob Ryan is making work in a similar way, which he present his work very straight forward. So for me I take the first sample's outline. and cut out of paper.
I feel very confident and calm while I am doing paper cutting, and I am planing to take this technique further. In stead of making a 2D work, I also create 4 sheet of cut paper and glue them in a standable paper work.
Although in this stage is going fine, I understand I need to speed up a bit, so I booked a several of craft punch which can allow me to make a bigger piece of model in a quicker way.
Figure at the bottom right is a picture I took from my building, it reminds me to also look at the light and shadow that screens and grills can create.
